At Durham Psychotherapy, individual therapy is available to people of every age—children, adolescents, adults, and older adults—and welcomes all races, cultures, faith traditions, abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and immigration statuses. In a confidential, one-on-one setting you can explore thoughts, emotions, and life experiences while working toward goals that matter to you. Your therapist’s priority is to foster a safe, non-judgemental space where you can be vulnerable and where your wellbeing drives every clinical decision.

Our clinicians include both Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers. Each therapist is licensed and in good standing with their respective regulatory body—the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). These colleges require graduate-level education, extensive supervised practice, ongoing professional development, and adherence to evidence-based standards, ensuring you receive ethical, competent, and research-informed care.

Our Clinical Intern is carefully selected, rigorously trained, and supported weekly by a Registered Psychotherapist/Registered Social Worker (R.P./R.S.W.). That means your care follows the same high standards, treatment plans are reviewed, and you essentially have two therapists thinking about your progress.

Expect a warm, steady presence and practical tools drawn from CBT, DBT, ACT, and attachment- and trauma-informed approaches. Ideal for anxiety, low mood, stress & burnout, relationship patterns, life transitions, sleep concerns, grief, and identity work. Sessions are respectful, collaborative, and paced to your nervous system—clear goals, measurable progress, and real-world skills.

This is a great option if you value premium care at a reduced rate without compromising quality. All services are provided by a Clinical Intern under supervision; case discussions are de-identified and confidential. Couples therapy is a dedicated space for two individuals who want to strengthen, repair, or deepen their romantic relationship. Whether you’re newly partnered, dating, engaged, married, or navigating long-term commitment, therapy can support you in building healthier patterns of communication, connection, and mutual understanding.

Your therapist will help you and your partner explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a safe, non-judgmental environment. The focus remains on the relationship itself—not just the individual concerns each partner brings. Even in situations where only one partner attends a session, your therapist continues to hold the well-being of the couple dynamic as the central priority.

At Durham Psychotherapy, our couples therapists are either Registered Psychotherapists or Registered Social Workers, regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). This means your therapist has completed extensive clinical training, ongoing supervision, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of current research and best practices to provide high-quality, ethical, and effective care.

Family therapy is a collaborative space for people who consider themselves family—whether biologically related or emotionally connected. This may include parents, children, siblings, grandparents, cousins, chosen family, or close friends. Family therapy can also support co-parenting relationships where romantic partnership is no longer present, such as separated or divorced parents.

These sessions offer a safe environment to explore each person’s thoughts, feelings, and experiences, while working together toward shared goals. Your therapist will support honest dialogue, emotional safety, and relational repair, always with the well-being of the entire family system in mind. Even when not all family members are present in a given session, your therapist will continue to hold the needs of the full family dynamic at the center of the work.

At Durham Psychotherapy, our therapists are Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers, regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). This ensures that your therapist brings extensive training, clinical supervision, and up-to-date knowledge grounded in evidence-based and ethical care.

At Durham Psychotherapy, a consultation offers you a brief, no-obligation conversation with one of our Registered Psychotherapists or Registered Social Workers. This meeting—often the first step before scheduling a full intake session—gives you a chance to describe what you’re looking for, learn about our approach, and ask practical questions about services, fees, scheduling, or fit. While helpful for mutual decision-making, a consultation is not psychotherapy and does not involve assessment, diagnosis, or treatment planning; instead, it ensures you feel informed and comfortable before committing to ongoing care.
